Narcotics Anonymous Grows at Lambda
A year ago, Narcotics Anonymous had just made its return to Lambda after a long absence. Now, just over a year later, two meetings have been added. Both meet in the East (Front) Room. Positive Living moved to Lambda on its old night, Mondays, but at 6 pm instead of 6:30. A new meeting, Progress Not Perfection, has been added on Friday nights at 6 pm.
If the Positive Living name sounds familiar, that's because Positive Living is an existing meeting. The NA Meeting had been meeting at the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS, which used to be Body Positive. The meeting was originally targeted to men and women with HIV and Hep C and met on Monday nights for the past 2-1/2 years.
However, the meeting format always limited the meeting's attendance and many addicts seeking recovery often felt the need to apologize that they were not HIV- or Hep C-positive. So the meeting, now that it is at Lambda, is open to all addicts, without any restrictions. HIV and Hep C status are now irrelevant. The meeting is open to all. The structure of the meetings will remain the same as the old Positive Living, with a mix of Steps, Traditions, speakers and open-share meetings in a rotating format.
The meetings debuted at Lambda, starting on Monday March 30. As of that date, the meeting at the Southwest Center will obviously no longer be held. Progress not Perfection MEETS on Fridays. More details to follow.
